when i was 9 years old,

my mom and dad planned a trip to disneyland

for me, my older sister alicia and my little brother jacob

they decided we would go in september over the same week as jake's birthday.

little did we know that 9/11 would happen exactly a week before..

my parents were terrified to travel, but our plane tickets were non refundable

so my parents decided we would brave it out.

the airports were empty.

the airplane was empty.

disneyland park was empty.

i was too young to understand exactly the eerie feeling in the air,

but i understood why.

i don't remember that disneyland trip

and my family hasn't been able to make another one since.

until now.

we are going to disneyland in 6 days

and i am so excited that i might cry.

or scream. or laugh.

or all of the above.

i can't even describe my excitement or happiness right now.
